Market News

Foodies,

The market is now open – if you’d like to order produce, go ahead and place your orders online till 11pm Monday night! If you would like to order special items, i.e. not a box, please put your order in ASAP!

We have brought on a few new, either certified USDA Organic or organic methods, farms – Rabbits Etc uses organic methods in Masaryktown; Geraldson Farm , a USDA organic farm out of Sarasota; as well as Windmill farms, a small backyard organic permaculture operation out of Plant City.

There are some really good items from all – from eggs to kale to tomatoes!

We try to find the most honest farmers with the healthiest & freshest food for the club as we build into an Food Cooperative.

As for items from certain farmers (Windmill, Morning Star, etc.), if there is not enough product ordered, it doesn’t always make financial sense for us to drive an hour or two to pick it up. We’ll try to communicate better with members when this happens but just wanted to give everybody a heads up.

Check out some great upcoming events down below!

Email us if you have any questions.

The boxes are now hand-selected by the customer/member instead of pre-packaged. This means the earlier you come, the more selection you’ll have for your box! Please bring your own box or reusable bag as we are running low at the coop. Also, if you have any to donate, it would be greatly appreciated.

Farm Spotlight

Rabbit Etc

We are Mike & Dee Blaha, owners of Rabbits,Etc. Our farm has been in the family for many years. Originally a 20 acre chicken farm built by Mike’s parents, Ed & Kissie Blaha in the 1940’s. The farm grew from 500 to 90,000 laying hens. Prices of eggs went down and expenses up, so the family stopped farming in 1980. We rebuilt the farm in 1992 and now farm it full time…..but this time it is to raise commercial rabbit meat and MORE, we are 21st century diversified, sustainable farmers.

We raise chemical and hormone free rabbits, chickens, eggs, sheep, cows, pigs, turkeys, Cornish hens and vegetables. Our poultry birds and foul are cage free, our cows and sheep are naturally pasture grass grazed. Our products are raised for human and pet consumption. We raise worms for bait, ornamental & tropical fish, turtles, lizards and garden composting. We also sell CWM 100, 100% composted worm manure, (worm castings). We cater to customers that want to know where their food and their pets’ food is coming from and we pride ourselves on customer service and professionalism.

Be on the lookout for Recipes under the appropriate tab on Locally Grown!
